mr. dyer presents crawling from the wreckage: leveraging crisis to implement change. he discusses u.s. president barack obama's most important tasks, which are to manage america's decline from "sole superpower" status, to use the country's remaining power in ways that benefit both americans and the rest of the world, and to take advantage of the unprecedented freedom of action the current economic crisis has given him. from the presentation, dyer's audience will be able to determine for themselves whether or not obama is choosing to use that freedom of action.

about gwynne dyer
gwynne dyer has worked as a freelance journalist, columnist, broadcaster, and lecturer on international affairs for more than 20 years, but he was originally trained as an historian. born in newfoundland, he received degrees from canadian, american and british universities, finishing with a ph.d. in military and middle eastern history from the university of london. he served in three navies and held academic appointments at the royal military academy sandhurst and oxford university before launching his twice-weekly column on international affairs, which is published by over 175 papers in some 45 countries.

his first television series, the 7-part documentary 'war', was aired in 45 countries in the mid-1980s. one episode, 'the profession of arms', was nominated for an academy award. his more recent television work includes the 1994 series 'the human race', and 'protection force', a three-part series on peacekeepers in bosnia, both of which won gemini awards. his award-winning radio documentaries include 'the gorbachev revolution', a seven-part series based on dyer's experiences in eastern europe and the former soviet union in 1987-90, and 'millenium', a six-hour series on the emerging global culture.

dyer's major study "war," first published in the 1980s, was completely revised and re-published in 2004. during this decade he has also written a trio of more contemporary books dealing with the politics and strategy of the post-9/11 world: 'ignorant armies' (2003), 'future: tense' (2004), and 'the mess they made' (2006). the latter was also published as 'after iraq' in the us and the uk and as 'nach iraq und afghanistan' in germany.

his most recent projects are a book and a radio series called 'climate wars', dealing with the geopolitics of climate change. they have already been published and aired in some places, and appeared in most other major markets in 2009.

and vice-president academic at the university of winnipeg, will become 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's sixth president and vice-chancellor on august 1, 2010, following the retirement of current president dr. frederick gilbert on july 31, 2010.

stevenson, who has a stellar record of leadership in academia and government, was unanimously selected by 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's board of governors following an
extensive international search that drew many talented and accomplished academic
leaders, states kevin cleghorn, chair of lakehead's board of governors.

the appointment is made after a year-long search conducted by a diverse presidential search committee composed of board members, alumni, faculty, 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , senators, administration, and aboriginal representation. "after intense discussion the search committee agreed that the right candidate would infuse our institution with a collegial, open, student-centred approach while continuing to promote a vigorous research climate that looks beyond the university to forge partnerships and joint ventures locally, nationally, and globally," says cleghorn. stevenson, born in victoria, b.c., spent his early years in mexico and the united states but returned to b.c. to attend the university of victoria where he graduated with an hba in political science, and an ma focused on public policy. he received his phd in political studies from queen's university before returning to mexico to teach at the prestigious instituto tecnológico autónomo de méxico (itam). from there he was appointed as visiting imperial oil/royal bank professor of international business at the university of alberta, left to work as senior policy advisor in ottawa to the ministers of foreign affairs
and international trade, then returned to the university of alberta as vice-provost and associate vice-president (international) before taking leave to work in washington d.c. for the organization of american states and later as a public policy scholar at the woodrow wilson international center for scholars.

the tour portion of the conference takes place on saturday, february 6, and offers attendees the chance to learn about 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 's involvement in the steel bridge and formula-1 sae race car competitions, held nationally, as well as the university's virtual reality laboratory and powerhouse. having the powerhouse as part of the tour will showcase some of lakehead's newest energy conservation initiatives, including new boilers which were recently changed from steam to boiling water, the power grid, and the power holding station.

among other expert speakers, nicole maillette seller, lakehead alumna and project engineer at bombardier transportation in thunder bay, will provide a company overview of bombardier while highlighting the work undertaken at the thunder bay plant and the role(s) engineers play there. joining nicole is her co-worker, mike kowal, olympic torch bearer in sherbrooke, quebec, in december 2009. nicole and mike will present the olympic torch, which was developed by bombardier. it will be taken apart for engineering 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 to see, and nicole will share information about the design and development processes of the torch and what they entailed.

an interactive session will place before the conference wraps up, during which teams comprising engineering 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 from different universities will work together to combine their skills and knowledge in building and programming robots.

the mcguinty government has created a bursary program to help aboriginal 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 with financial need to attend college, university, or aboriginal post-secondary institutions, and is also investing in a range of aboriginal student support services at post-secondary institutions across the province. these efforts are aimed at ensuring more aboriginal 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 pursue and succeed at post-secondary education.
