the successful candidate’s work must demonstrate alignment with 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 ’s research plan and thunder bay regional health sciences centre/thunder bay regional health research institute’s research plan. a focus on research that can be applied to improve health in northwestern ontario within a population health learning systems approach is required.
the successful candidate(s) will engage in a combination of teaching, research, and service duties in line with their appointed rank. the academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. the position will commence as early as january 1, 2025.
the preferred candidates will have:
i. an earned ph.d.
ii. an unrestricted license as an rn (general or extended class) with the college of nurses of ontario (cno) is preferred, however non-rn candidates with relevant academic qualifications, and research, teaching, and service contributions will be considered;
iii. at least one graduate degree in nursing or health related discipline is preferred;
iv. demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and evidence of an effective and established teaching record, and of educational leadership and/or mentorship;
v. experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired. experience with remote and distance delivery teaching and technology is an asset;
vi. demonstrated commitment to research and scholarship; strong evidence of peer-reviewed academic publications, academic conference presentations, external funding, and knowledge translation activities. experience integrating research evidence into teaching and practice. a research record and research potential consistent with the expectations for a research chair, with health research relevant to northwestern ontario.
vii. the potential to make service contributions to the department and to the nursing profession (or health related field). the ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively with others;
viii. demonstrated commitments to equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, belonging, and social justice.
the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research and knowledge translation into teaching, service, and practice settings. candidates with expertise in undergraduate anatomy and physiology, nursing ethics, pharmacology, maternal/infant health, child/youth health, mental health, and graduate level nursing theory/philosophy and diversity/equity/social justice are needed, however all areas of expertise are welcome to apply.

the department is home to four tenured and tenure-track faculty members in the faculty of science and environmental studies and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in geology, environmental earth science, and water resource science. it has a well-established national and international research reputation with strengths in economic geology, geochemistry, petrology, structural geology, tectonics, early earth ocean-atmosphere-terrestrial systems, and biogeochemistry. we are a small department with a dynamic focus on experiential learning and have strong connections with local industry and government. 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 has several centralized labs to support research, including the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 environmental laboratory, and the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 instrumentation lab. instrumentation available for the successful candidate’s use includes icp-oes and ms, a high-resolution fesem-edx system, tem, xrd, a fluid inclusion stage with ir, several spectroscopy systems, state-of-the-art microscopes with digital imagers, and assorted other instrumentation and equipment to support field activities. also available to the successful candidate is access to the department’s lapidary facility, which is staffed by two full-time technicians.
we especially welcome applicants with research interests in the broad area of structural geology and tectonics, who will take a field-based approach and will augment field observations and data with quantitative analysis, laboratory experiments, and/or analog/computational modeling. preference will be given to candidates with expertise complementary to existing department strengths in ore deposit studies, igneous petrology, sedimentology, and precambrian geology.
qualified applicants must have a ph.d. in geology and a proven record of excellence in research and teaching. the successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural geology, tectonics, metamorphic petrology, and mapping techniques, and contribute to our field schools. the ability and willingness to teach courses outside of the main area of interest will be considered an asset. experience with experiential learning or alternative modes of course delivery is highly desired. the candidate will also establish a dynamic and externally funded program of research. other duties include student mentorship and supervision, and professional service for the department, the university, and the community.
