darlene st. georges

prickly pear cactus: goddess of the coulées

artist statement

driven by curiosity i became fascinated with the prickly pear cactus of the coulées. her presence can easily go amiss, hidden in grasses and in cracks and crevices. over two summers i photo documented her life cycle. i offer artistic photographs with accompanying vignettes that reflect this creation-centred inquiry.
