marzana bates

letting go - vipassana meditation style
mixed media, 153cm x 56cm x 17cm
picture

artist statement

“letting go” visually explores layers of constriction that we carry within ourselves, perhaps tucked away, hidden deep within – old wounds, untruths about ourselves, physical and emotional restrictions. stillness, meditation, prayer and non-reactivity allow these tight areas to soften, release and bubble up resulting in new levels of freedom.

marzana bates

the paintings of marzana bates visual artist, echo her knowledge and exploration of the human body as a physiotherapist. attention to detail, nuances, lines of tension and interconnections inform her work. she brings minutia, things largely unseen or unnoticed, to a larger-than-life scale, simultaneously pondering emotional undertones.
