how to apply: 

the seed grant provides funding for pilot studies in arrhythmia research to gain preliminary results which can strengthen applications for canet’s larger grants such as the strategic research grant (srg).

seed grants must be focused on research that has potential to grow into larger canet programs. up to $25,000 is available (max. 1 year duration) for projects in areas aligned with canet’s strategic priorities. matching funds are not required but recommended. a maximum of one seed grants can be held at any one time by a network investigator. senior investigators (>10 years) are strongly encouraged to include and mentor a junior co-pi on the project. network investigators will be encouraged to apply for a canet strategic research grant (srg) after the completion of the seed grant, if applicable.

• include activities aimed at excessive literature review
• relate to the set-up and operational management of an institute or a formal or informal group of researchers;
• are principally associated with the acquisition and maintenance of scientific equipment.

focused investment program (fip) – social sciences

how to apply: 

the purpose of the focused investment program (fip) – social sciences is to provide funding to support the examination of new approaches to research critical to the transformation of arrhythmia care practices in canada. the objectives of the fip – social sciences are to:

• build knowledge, understanding and capacity within interdisciplinary and/or cross sector research teams.
• mobilize research knowledge around critical social, cultural and technological issues related to the promotion of an accessible and sustainable health care system for arrhythmia health.
• deepen understandings that inform solutions employed in the transformation of arrhythmia care practices in canada.

fip – social sciences projects must be focused on research that is aligned with canet’s strategic plan and have the potential to integrate into larger canet programs/projects (see https://canet-nce.ca/2016-2019-strategic-plan). up to $150,000 can be requested (over a maximum of 2 years) is available for projects in areas aligned with canet’s strategic priorities. matching funds are not required but recommended. a maximum of one fip-social sciences program can be held at any one time by a network investigator. senior investigators (>10 years) are strongly encouraged to include and mentor a junior co-pi on the project.

major industry-partnered research grant (mirg)

the major industry-partnered research grant (mirg) program is designed to support new transdisciplinary research projects which are primarily industry focused and that are aligned with the network’s strategic priorities. up to $200,000 per year for three years is available for projects that include partner cash and in-kind contributions of 3:1 of which at least 75% must be cash. the full application will be due on monday, january 14, 2019 with notice of awards by november 2019.

core research program (crp) 2020-2025 request for proposals (rfp)

how to apply: 

as age-well completes its first five-year mandate (2015-2020), the network is developing its plans and goals for its next iteration, specifically from 2020-2025. a key aspect of this planning process is the development of age-well’s next core research program, which is a set of integrated, long-term research projects that are the cornerstone of the network’s activities.

applications are invited for new core research projects that will be included as part of age-well’s renewal application for funding through 2020-2025. age-well will provide significant funding for 3 to 5 years to projects that:

  • are driven by real-world problems and challenge areas
  • address specific areas of interest to age-well and its partners and stakeholders
  • focus on innovative technology-based solutions to support older adults and caregivers
