the objective of this cfp is to invite eligible organizations to submit proposals for projects which support the development of skills to meet the demands of canada’s labour market or address labour market issues by supporting the production, dissemination and application of one or more of the following:

1. labour market information
2. national occupation standards/competency frameworks
3. certification programs
4. accreditation systems

in addition to these project types, projects with activities related to creative solutions that provide new ways of addressing sector-specific labour market issues may also be considered.

the prarp’s mission is devoted to (1) understanding the association between traumatic brain injury (tbi) and alzheimer’s disease (ad)/alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (adrd) and (2) reducing the burden on affected individuals and caregivers, especially in the military and veteran communities.  as directed by the office of the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs, the defense health agency j9, research and development directorate, manages the defense health program research, development, test, and evaluation appropriation.  the managing agent for the anticipated program announcements/funding opportunities is the congressionally directed medical research programs (cdmrp).

fy17 prarp overarching challenges and focus areas:

all applications for the fy17 prarp funding opportunities must address at least one of the following fy17 overarching challenges. the fy17 overarching challenges may be mechanism-specific.

the prarp fy17 overarching challenges are listed below.

in addition to addressing one or more of the specified fy17 overarching challenges, applications should also address at least one of the following fy17 focus areas in support of the fy17 overarching challenges.  an application that proposes research outside of the fy17 focus areas is acceptable, as long as the applicant provides a strong rationale.  the focus areas will be mechanism-specific.

quality of life research award – letter of intent due september 21, 2017

the pi must be an independent investigator at or above the level of assistant professor (or equivalent).

intent:  the intent of the research funded through this award is to (1) support research to alleviate, stabilize, or characterize the symptoms or deficits common to tbi,  ad, and adrd and (2) reduce the burden of care on the caregivers for individuals living with the common symptoms of tbi and ad/adrd.  research may be proposed to either facet of the intent.  both are equally important.

applications must address one or more of the following fy17 prarp overarching challenges:

·         paucity of clinical studies

·         epidemiology

·         quality of life

·         caregiver burden

applications should address at least one of the following fy17 prarp focus areas:

·         quality of life

·         caregiver support

·         biomarkers

·         epidemiological research

research considering pharmacologic interventions is specifically discouraged under this mechanism.

intent:  to create an avenue for collaborative research partnerships between investigators to address a research problem or question in a manner that would be unachievable through separate efforts.

applications must include clearly stated plans for interactions between the partners.  the plans must include communication, coordination or research progress and results, and data sharing between all investigators and organizations participating in the project.

applications must address one or more of the following fy17 prarp overarching challenges:

biomedical research grants provide financial support to medical researchers to assist in defraying the operating costs of research, which may include the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment and the payment of laboratory assistants.

grants are available for one, two or three years, commencing july 1, for up to $50,000 per year. the research must be carried out in canada.

the application deadline is a a two stage process.

- a mandatory registration phase with a deadline of september 01, 2017

- a full application phase with a deadline of october 01, 2017.

connection grants support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. these events and activities represent opportunities to exchange knowledge and to engage on research issues of value to those participating. events and outreach activities funded by a connection grant may often serve as a first step toward more comprehensive and longer-term projects potentially eligible for funding through other sshrc funding opportunities.

connection grants proposals are expected to meet the objectives of the connection program.

connection grants support workshops, colloquiums, conferences, forums, summer institutes or other events or outreach activities that facilitate:

• disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary exchanges in the humanities and social sciences;
• scholarly exchanges between those working in the social sciences and humanities and those working in other research fields;
• intersectoral exchanges between academic researchers in the humanities and social sciences and researchers and practitioners from the public, private and/or not-for-profit sectors; and/or

natural resources canada (nrcan) is proposing to allocate $79m in funding to support investments in green infrastructure, including initiatives that will support the implementation of the pan-canadian framework on clean growth and climate change.

funding streams

ev charging infrastructure deployment projects (projects that do not have an innovative component) may be considered in future funding programs

• energy efficient buildings research, development & demonstration - up to $49.3m over eight years from april 1, 2018 to march 31, 2026 to develop and implement new building codes to retrofit existing buildings and build new net-zero energy consumption buildings across canada. these funds will support research, development and demonstration projects to accelerate the development and adoption of technologies, building design and construction practices, provide more cost effective building solutions, validate their applications locally with real-world demonstrations, and build confidence with industry and pts to accelerate their adoption of revised building codes.
   
• electric vehicle infrastructure demonstrations (phase ii) - up to $30m over four years from april 1, 2018 to march 31, 2022 to continue to support demonstrations of next-generation and innovative electric vehicle (ev) charging infrastructure projects that address technical and non-technical barriers to the installation, operation and management of ev charging technologies.

upon submission of the registration form, an eoi applicants’ package will be sent to you via e-mail.

the eoi template should then be completed and submitted by 23:59 edt, september 25, 2017. no eoi submitted after that deadline will be accepted. natural resources canada recommends that proponents keep a record of the date and time their eoi was submitted as proof in case of any dispute.
