cimvhr is administering a call for proposals (cfp) to identify a researcher/research team that can successfully undertake a literature review examining the body of literature on volunteering among canadian armed forces veterans and military members. it will aim to identify volunteering preferences, patterns, and key impacts on veteran well-being, particularly to improve the military-to- civilian transition.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

1. support the development of structured, openly available, diverse, inclusive and sustainable training and mentoring platforms that build canadian capacity in areas of health research, health issues, scientific opportunities and critical gaps by:
   • supporting the engagement of diverse trainees and early career researchers (ecrs) in collaborative research across institutions, disciplines, jurisdictions and sectors;
   • incorporating diverse training approaches, including experiential training opportunities;
   • including diverse and inclusive paradigms of research training and mentoring (e.g., indigenous ways of knowing and community-based research) in a meaningful and culturally safe manner; and
   • implementing recruitment, training, and mentorship strategies to attract trainees and ecrs from a diversity of population groups and communities, including those who have been historically excluded, by embedding and applying equity, diversity and inclusion (edi) best practices in these strategies.
2. support the development of skills that increase the likelihood of employability and career prospects of diverse trainees and ecrs across sectors, by integrating training on:
   • approaches to advance rigorous, responsible, and impactful research (e.g., edi considerations and analysis – including sex- and gender-based analysis, embedding inclusive patient and persons with lived or living experience (pwle) engagement in all stages of research, knowledge mobilization, research data management, research involving indigenous peoples, ethics, unconscious bias);
   • grant/proposal writing, budgeting, and peer review;
   • professional development skills (including transferrable skills, such as communication, analytical thinking, problem solving, project management, leadership, etc.);
   • applying knowledge mobilization strategies (e.g., priority-setting and co-production, dissemination and communication, evidence synthesis, implementation of high-quality evidence, embedded research, etc.) and advancing knowledge mobilization science (e.g., implementation science, embedded research, evaluation of km strategies) and,
   • diverse career options and opportunities available across the different sectors (academia, private/for profit, public, and not-for-profit).

the objective of the indigenous forestry initiative (ifi) is to advance reconciliation in the forest sector by supporting indigenous-identified priorities to accelerate indigenous awareness, influence, inclusion, and leadership.

the ifi provides financial support to inclusive, indigenous-led activities in the forest sector, such as:

• gathering, developing, using, and protecting indigenous knowledge and science
• indigenous leadership and participation in forest stewardship
• the identification, consideration, and pursuit of economic development opportunities

mitacs has opened its call for applications under its globalink research award thematic call (gratc).   ontario applicants may submit applications under this specific program, however no awards will be finalized until the funding situation with ontario has been resolved.  given that decisions on applications are expected in february-march 2023, it can be anticipated that any additional delays (if any) for ontario applications will be minor, given the start of the new fiscal year. 

the award to the student or post-doctoral fellow is cad 6,000 for a 12-24 week project (inbound or outbound); up to five 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 /pdf may be included on an application.  applicants who are approved have one year from the date of approval to start the project.

gra thematic calls are competitive calls with specific partners, and do not require any any co-pay from lakehead or count against our annual allocation.

mitacs will be launching a special thematic call for the globalink research award program on september 1 with an application deadline of december 1.  the pre-call announcement gives you extra time to begin identifying potential collaborators.  an info session will be organized around mid-september and announced on september 1.  the themes are ai and quantum computing; achieving net zero; and global health (please see the sub themes below).

in most cases, projects can include undergraduate and graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 as well as post-doctoral fellows, and can be bi-directional (even include both inbound and outbound 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 on the same project). student/pdf awards are for cad 6,000 for full-time research projects of 6-12 weeks.  some partners may have alternative eligibility criteria and award guidelines.

complete the form and return it to intl.research@lakeheadu.ca.  the ors will review, and if the project idea will contribute to lakehead’s research priorities, it will be forwarded to mitacs.  mitacs will then contact the appropriate international partner so they can share the opportunity with their network.
