"the cihr institute of circulatory and respiratory health (cihr-icrh) and the canadian cardiovascular society (ccs) have established an annual distinguished lecturer award in cardiovascular sciences in recognition of an individual's outstanding contribution to the advancement of cardiovascular sciences both in canada and internationally. the award will be presented to the selected candidate at vascular 2023, where the recipient will be invited to participate in a session as a part of the vascular 2023. vascular 2023 is a world-class event that incorporates separate concurrent annual conferences (congresses/meetings) from the seven host organizations under one roof.

the selected candidate will be an outstanding scientist who has conducted the majority of their research in canada and who has contributed to the advancement of cardiovascular sciences. the individual may have conducted work in any one of a number of cardiovascular disciplines and within any of the four cihr research theme areas: biomedical; clinical; health systems and services; and, social, cultural, environmental and population health. the nominated candidate's research should also be in a field of interest to the cihr-icrh, ccs, and attendees of vascular 2023."

the forest sector investment and innovation program (fsiip) provides funding for strategic investments in the forest sector that:

• improve productivity and innovation
• enhance competitiveness
• support new market access
• provide benefits to ontario’s broader forest sector
• strengthen regional economies

support is available under two project categories – business projects and collaboration projects.

responsive grants fund community-led initiatives that improve access to justice. responsive grants aim to encourage new projects that fill existing legal gaps, supplement existing services, or otherwise help address emerging needs by connecting more people to legal information and support, especially people who are not currently being reached.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to provide seed funding to:

• build relationships among researchers, people with lived/living experience (pwle), communities, health care professionals and others with a view to developing inclusive, equitable and culturally safe icts;
• mobilize research collaborations aimed at identifying priorities for ict research; and,
• develop new and transformative methods relevant to icts, with the potential to generate high impact results.

examples of activities that might be conducted under this funding opportunity include (but are not restricted to):

• building relationships through meaningful engagement and consultation with different stakeholders and partners and conducting engagement sessions to inform ict research design and culturally safe approaches;
• planning and execution of pilot projects or feasibility studies to demonstrate proof of concept and/or generate preliminary data;
• developing and/or validating new tools, methodologies and/or protocols.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• to promote equity, diversity and inclusion–informed, cutting-edge, creative and outside the box research that has the potential to challenge, overturn or create new paradigms in high-priority areas of women's health.
• to test highly innovative ideas and obtain the results necessary to catalyze new research or commercialization efforts that could subsequently be funded by larger grants.
