how to apply: 

for research stays of 1-3 months at one or more recognized german institutes of higher education and non-university research institutes, starting between october 1, 2022 and march 31, 2023.  applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the united states or canada, and must have 2 years of experience beyond the completion of the doctoral degree.  the award provides a travel allowance and 2,000-2,150 euros per month, depending on academic status.  there are two application cycles per year with may and october deadlines (note: oct 2022 intake cancelled). for more information or assistance, please contact jill sherman, intl.research@lakeheadu.ca

mitacs-jsps summer program

how to apply: 

the mitacs-jsps summer program, offered in partnership with the japan society for the promotion of science (jsps), provides opportunities for graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and postdoctoral fellows in canada to pursue collaborative research in japan. applicants must be canadian citizens or permanent residents.  rountdtrip airfare, insurance and a stipend in the amount of 534,000 yen (approx. cad 5,000) are provided.

rto foundation grants

how to apply: 
the rtoero foundation awards grants between $10,000 to $50,000 to projects that aim to improve seniors’ health and wellness, promote social engagement for older adults and/or pursue innovative research in the field of geriatrics and gerontology.
 

the rtoero foundation reviews grant applications once or twice annually, in the spring and/or fall. applicants should review the guidelines and requirements as well as timing and deadlines outlined on this page before applying for funding.

the rtoero foundation grant application process consists of four stages:

  • letter of intent (loi): applicant will be asked to provide a project summary, some detail regarding outputs, as well as a draft budget and schedule (loi approximately 750 words). a submitted loi will be evaluated based on adherence with the foundation’s objectives and funding criteria. if the project summary as articulated in the loi meets all requirements, the applicant will be invited to submit a full proposal.
  • proposal: applicant is responsible for completing and submitting all the required detail of their project proposal (approximately 3,000 words), on or before the stated deadline. applicant will also be asked to attach a detailed budget and workplan.
  • committee review: our peer-review committee will assess proposals and make recommendations for funding.
  • final approval: funding recommendations are brought to the rtoero foundation board of directors for final approval.

james kreppner award program

how to apply: 

the james kreppner award program supports legal and/or bioethical research relevant to canadian blood services. research priorities for the james kreppner award include the legal, regulatory and/or bioethical aspects of (a) donation, collection, storage, and use of blood, blood products, and novel uses of hematopoietic stem cells; and (b) organ and tissue donation and transplantation. the 2022 james kreppner award will support one project with up to $50,000 for a period of one year.

shastri scholar travel subsidy grant (sstsg)

how to apply: 

the shastri indo-canadian institute (sici) is pleased to announce a call for applications for shastri scholar travel subsidy grants (sstsg) 2022-23 from sici’s canadian and indian member institutions in good standing. sstsg assists faculty members, doctoral and/or post-doctoral 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 with travel subsidies to participate in conferences, workshops, seminars and academic meetings in alternate partner countries (india or canada) that are intended to establish institutional and scholarly linkages.             

there will be only one award per institution.  the travel subsidy from sici is cad 1,500. ttravel for the purpose of research collaboration will be eligible to apply for a matching grant (1,500) from the office of the vpri, for a combined travel award of cad 3,000.   faculty members, phd and post-doctoral fellows are eligible.      

key objectives of sstsg are:

  • facilitate enhancing personal and professional growth of participating scholars and institutions;
  • facilitate promoting academic linkages between india and canada.

please note the following points:

  • institutions may receive only one sstsg award, and receipt of the award is subject to the institution being a sici member in good standing with fully paid-up membership for the current year (2022-23);
  • an individual who was awarded an sstsg may not receive another travel subsidy grant until at least one (1) year has passed. for example, an individual who received an sstsg in 2019-20 (last sstsg program year before covid 19 travel disruptions) will not be eligible to apply for this year’s grant (2022-23).
  • selected sstsg awardees will have two weeks to confirm their acceptance of the grant (subject to their institution’s eligibility);
  • any declined sstsg or availability of surplus funds may result in the award of grants among any of the wait-listed applications, subject to the application of other rules of sici which allows benefits to be more broadly distributed among its members;
  • sstsg funds will be released to the recipients’ institutions upon receipt of the scholar’s final report.

fulbright canada awards for canadian scholars 2023/2024: research chairs

how to apply: 

fulbright canada research chairs are intended for canadian citizens who are exceptional scholars and/or experienced professionals who wish to conduct research and/or lecture in the united states.

traditional fulbright awards are open to canadian scholars in all fields and are designed to enable emerging and established scholars, post-doctoral researchers and experienced professionals to conduct research, teach, or undertake a combination of both activities for one semester or a full academic year at any university or research center of their choice in the united states.

specialization: while the competition is open to all disciplines, fulbright canada is particularly interested in encouraging research on contemporary issues relevant to canada, the united states and the relationship between the two countries. applicants should also clearly document the need to be in residence in the united states to carry out the project.

community-based projects under the new horizons for seniors program (up to $25,000)

eligibility: 

organizations can only submit 1 application per project. multiple projects may not exceed a total of $25,000 per organization.

how to apply: 

the community-based stream of the new horizons for seniors program (nhsp) is a federal grant that supports community-based projects that are designed by seniors for seniors. this program funds projects that empower seniors in their communities and contribute to improving their health and well-being.

eligible organizations can apply for up to $25,000 for projects that are led by seniors and are volunteer based.

genomic applications partnership program (gapp)

how to apply: 

ontario genomics is pleased to announce that a new round (25) of genome canada’s genomic applications partnership program (gapp) is now open for applications.

the gapp funds public-private research collaborations focused on validating genomics-derived technologies that address real-world opportunities and challenges identified by industry, government, not-for-profits, or other “receptors” of genomics knowledge and tools across all sectors. the program provides a unique opportunity for receptor organizations to collaborate with an academic ’omics researcher and to leverage their research and development (r&d) investments with public funding.
