together in this (approximately) 5-hour course on fostering learning online we will look to identify ways of bridging your face-to-face teaching practices to an online learning environment. critical elements of effective teaching (motivation, communication, and administration) don’t change when you relocate to a virtual classroom environment. the approaches we use to include them do. this course will help you develop techniques that will protect these elements when you shift to your online classroom.  

this is a short course, which will span 1 week. it is recommended that you allocate approximately 1-hour a day to engage in asynchronous activities. there will be a 1 hour (approximately) live meet-up on the final day (february 17, 2023).

the emp program is designed to support faculty members who are interested in being better media creators, enhance their learners experiences with effective resources, and distribute media in ways that work for both faculty and learner.

the edmedia protégé (emp) program will improve your capacity to design and deliver media assets – such as infographics, video, graphic organizers, etc. - as an embedded part of teaching and learning. in the first three weeks of the program faculty will work together to better understand how to effectively embed media in activity and assessment, and throughout the remaining time in the program faculty receive one-on-one support from media and learning developers to design media for learning, and develop assets using common tools and techniques. the program will wrap up with a showcase that celebrates the works of emp participants.

this program runs january 24 - march 17th.  application deadline is january 13th.

this workshop focuses on teaching strategies for teaching writing in instructors’ respective disciplines. topics covered include assignment planning for integrating discipline-specific writing in courses and ways to make teaching writing efficient and relevant for 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 .

the intelligent agent tool in mycourselink/d2l can be used to send personalized automated email notifications to learners based on specific criteria or conditions determined by an instructor. whether teaching online, hybrid, or in-person, instructors can use agents to facilitate timely and relevant communication at critical junctures to help boost engagement, keep learners on task, and gain insights into learner behaviour. 

in this session, participants will be presented with a variety of ways they might use intelligent agents for their teaching and learning contexts. participants will then be instructed on how to set up an intelligent agent in mycourselink/d2l for their own classes.

open-resource assessments support a learner-centered environment that reduces test taking anxiety and increases student satisfaction. this presentation will highlight the utility of open-book and open-web assessments as innovative learning tools in synchronous, hybrid and asynchronous course modalities as they allow 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 to personalize their learning experience in tandem with instructor-led activities. results from student cohort performance in focal and co-requisite courses will be presented, as well as flexible strategies for mitigating grade inflation. these methodologies can be applied to nursing and non-nursing disciplines with equal success.
