call for applications: aacr-cihr scholar-in-training awards 2025
as part of its longstanding partnership with the american association for cancer research (aacr), the cihr institute of cancer research (icr) is delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural aacr-cihr scholar-in-training awards (sita) competition. an expansion of the highly prestigious and successful aacr sita competition, these awards will support young investigators from canada, particularly from underrepresented groups, to present their research at the aacr annual meeting 2025, the world's largest cancer research conference.
brain health medicines
the brain health medicines scholar award provides funding and drug development support to researchers whose work aims to treat, prevent or cure alzheimer's disease and related dementias. the award includes:
- one-year grant
- $100,000 with appropriate justification
- potential to renew for a second year based on milestones achieved
- dedicated project manager for the duration of the award
- drug development, commercial strategy and business development support from harrington's therapeutics development center experts
- opportunity to quality for up to $400,000 in additional funding and drug development support

innovations in ibd research
crohn's and colitis canada invites applications for an innovations grant, to fund novel or innovative approaches to ibd research. this grant is intended to stimulate and support research which may not be encompassed within the boundaries of traditional medical research. research proposals must conform to sound principles of research and may aim to collect pilot data for follow-on application(s). our organization seeks mission relevance and excellence as well as innovation.
grants-in-aid of research
the gia program supports research projects directly related to ibd that are aligned with crohn’s and colitis canada’s promise and strategic directions. funding is limited to a maximum of $125,000 per year, for up to three years, contingent upon available funds.
young minds initiative
as part of its efforts to foster the next generation of defence and security scholars, minds supports undergraduate and master’s 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 interested in defence and security through the young minds initiative.
these grants are valued at $10,000 and must be linked to the minds policy challenges.
interested candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s program at an accredited university, and pursuing a degree in political science, history, international relations, public policy, economics, or be able to demonstrate that their field of study is relevant to defence and security studies. applicants should be sponsored by a professional academic or recognized expert in the field.
targeted engagement grant program
the targeted engagement grant program aims to drive innovation in defence policy thinking and to foster the next generation of defence and security experts. we are proud to support the exchange of ideas and a diversity of researchers in the domain of security and defence. new forward thinking research and activities are extremely valuable for national defence and the canadian armed forces in the development of evidence-based policy.
habitat stewardship program for species at risk
one of the government of canada's mandates is the conservation of nature, including the recovery of species at risk. in this regard, the habitat stewardship program for species at risk (hsp) provides funds for canadian projects that help protect and recover species at risk.
other: summer program in aging
for an application to be eligible, all the requirements stated below must be met:
- the nominated principal applicant must be a trainee enrolled at a canadian university. specifically, applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time in a master's or phd program, or be granted a postdoctoral fellowship at a canadian university, or follow post-graduate clinical training that includes a program of research.
- the trainee must be committed to attend the entire cihr-ia spa 2025 training program from june 8-13, 2025.
- the trainee must be participating in a cihr-ia spa training program for the first time.
the specific objective of this funding opportunity is:
- to provide entry to the spa 2025 program to trainees interested in the area of: training a healthcare workforce to meet the needs of older adults.
forest sector investment and innovation program
the forest sector investment and innovation program provides funding for strategic investments in the forest sector that:
- enhance competitiveness
- support new market access
- provide benefits to ontario’s broader forest sector
- strengthen regional economies
