workplacenl’s research initiatives program promotes and provides funding for workplace health and safety research to inform innovative, practical, and easy-to-implement solutions that support the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses or support re-integration into the workforce, post-injury.

mitacs has announced a special thematic call for the globalink research award program.   the deadline to apply is december 1, 2020 (the internal submission deadline is november 16, 2020), for projects with start dates between march 15, 2021 and february 28, 2022.  projects have one year from the approval date to start.  themes and subthemes are:

• must be registered as full-time senior undergraduates, graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , or postdoctoral fellows at a canadian university or at an eligible university or institution outside canada and remain as such throughout their gra project period. postdoctoral fellows may apply if their date of graduation from a phd program is no more than five years prior to the proposed start date of the research project.
• cannot undertake a research project at an institution where they have previously completed a degree
• for participants travelling from canada: cannot undertake a research project in a country where they hold citizenship (unless they are a permanent resident or citizen of canada)
• must be the legal age of majority in canada (18 years of age or older)
• must meet travel requirements for their intended destination, including visa and/or immigration requirements and associated documentation
• cannot hold more than one globalink research award per academic lifetime
• cannot have previously held a mitacs-jsps summer program award

undergraduate eligibility

undergraduate applicants completing their first post-secondary degree must have completed their second year of studies prior to departure. all applicants enrolled in an undergraduate degree must have maintained a b average in their two most recent semesters prior to application. this average can be cumulative over the two semesters.

home and host supervising professors

• must hold a faculty position at a canadian university or must be recognized faculty members at their institutions outside canada

there is a requirement for a sub contractor to summarize and interpret previously collected qualitative and quantitative survey data collected from 793 caf members responding to 83 open and closed ended questions, and to provide recommendations for virtual scenario development and for experimental design of future research trials to enhance skills while training under simulated stress.

the overall goal is to inform vac policy. the department has specific requirements for the literature review and integrated knowledge translation and exchange that are provided in this statement of work. the successful sub contractor’s proposal must clearly indicate how these requirements will be addressed.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• identify wise programs, policies or actions, and/or address critical knowledge gaps, including data, related to further understanding of the immediate impacts and/or future consequences of covid-19 among first nations, inuit, métis and/or urban indigenous populations, communities and/or individuals;
• identify, implement and evaluate culturally safe, and community-led solutions to address the covid-19 pandemic and its immediate and/or future consequences among first nations, inuit, métis and/or urban indigenous communities;

community-based climate action projects

launched september 17, 2020, the request for proposals for community-based climate action projects will provide knowledge, tools and/or skills that lead to or engage communities in climate action. this request for proposals will provide from $100,000 to $6 million to eligible organizations, for a total of up to $50 million over five years.
