get an early start on 2020: explore the use of peer-assessment to make the courses you teach even more valuable.

when our 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 leave our institutions they will enter a continually changing job market, and they will ultimately work in a number of different contexts before settling into a career. yes, the courses we teach them will be valuable to them, but even more valuable are the transferable skills we help them develop; skills like critical and creative thought, and efficient two-way communication. how do we develop these skills well? and how do we know if our attempts to develop them are working?

in this webinar, professor steve joordens, a 3m national teaching fellow from the university of toronto, will highlight the challenge of equipping 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 with the skills needed for the work of tomorrow, and the potential of peerscholar powered peer-assessment to provide clear answers to these challenges. he will highlight a wide variety of approaches that combine with technology-enabled peer-assessment to deepen the pedagogical experience for 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 .

moving exams online may seem very challenging, but it can be made much easier with some technical instruction and careful consideration of core issues: how to write effective questions for online testing, how to establish appropriate timeframes, practical considerations for academic integrity, best practices, etc.

this workshop will also touch on a variety of “alternative assessments” – i.e. assignment/activity options that could take the place of quizzes, tests, exams (online or in-person) – as well as some of the rubrics and tools available to instructors to facilitate the effective implementation of such alternatives.

this session will be offered through zoom.  if you prefer to join in-person, we'll be in li 5041c (meeting room in the teaching commons).  feel free to bring your device to follow along.
