campus & architecture
the buildings on the thunder bay campus reflect a variety of architectural styles. starting with the braun building, completed in 1956, to the building fund and campus master plan of the late 1960s, to more recent additions such as the medical school building.
the first residence building constructed on campus in 1961. the original men's residence (now prettie residence) was built near the mcintyre river by architects mickelson, fraser & haywood.

the c.j. saunders field house, winter. construction started on an athletic centre and gymnasium in 1967. in march 1968 the c.j. sanders fieldhouse, named in honour of philanthropist carl j. sanders, was constructed on the other side of the mcintyre river opposite the main university buildings.
