it's my pleasure to inform you that we are now accepting applications for the craig dobbin legacy scholarships until 12th of june - there is still time to make an application!

thirty craig dobbin legacy scholarships are being awarded under this programme. fifteen of these scholarships will be awarded to canadian scholars seeking to conduct research in university college dublin (ucd), with another fifteen being awarded to ucd researchers seeking to conduct research in canada. applications with an interdisciplinary dimension are welcome, however all applications should align with one of the research themes prioritised by the ucd college of arts & humanities, which can be found here.

research scholarships ranging in value from cad 7,000 to cad 10,500 will support research visits ranging in duration from 2-4 weeks. the  application process has been designed to be very streamlined and efficient, to facilitate applicants.

a minimum of three scholarships will be made to scholars whose application proposes to conduct research which connects memorial university newfoundland with ucd.

ground-breaking research or pilot projects focused on long-term health effects for seriously disabled veterans living with amputation

the war amps canada cimvhr research grants partnership invites researchers from relevant fields to submit project proposals in competition for funding to accelerate research projects or pilot projects focused on greatly improving the care and/or quality of life for all people living with service-related amputations. specifically, this call focusses on the impact or interaction of non-pensioned conditions on the well-being and care needs of veterans with the pensioned condition of amputation, and their family members. non-pensioned health conditions often stem from service-related conditions (i.e. such as amputation) but are otherwise not recognized or compensated through their vac disability pension and benefits program. examples of non-pensioned conditions flowing from amputation include cardiac, cancer, diabetic and osteoarthritic conditions. this project can lead to better compensation and/or benefit for veterans with a pensioned condition of amputation. cimvhr and the war amps will work together to brief the successful applicant to understand the canadian veteran programs and pension legislation that form the context of this task.

proposals must be led by at least one principal investigator who is an academic researcher affiliated with a canadian cimvhr member university. proposals from international affiliates can be considered if done in collaboration with a canadian cimvhr member university.

brain canada and cqdm are joining forces once again to support interprovincial collaborative biopharmaceutical research and development (r&d) projects on the brain. this partnership creates a unique funding opportunity that brings together experts from academia and industry to support the development of platforms, tools and biopharmaceuticals that will pave the way for new advances in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of brain disorders. 

this award is intended for research teams with a minimum of two independent researchers, a principal investigator from a research institution in quebec and an independent researcher from a research institution in another canadian province. they must work in close collaboration with at least one quebec small and medium-sized enterprise (sme).   

the project’s budget must be between $500,000 and $2 million.

idrc international doctoral research awards (idra) are intended to build capacity and develop research skills in canada and the global south to improve the lives of people in the global south.

the objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of emerging researchers at canadian universities, growing the cohort of researchers able to design, lead and carry out high quality research that contributes to the sustainable development goals and specific development outcome areas of particular interest to idrc.

this call is open to canadian citizens and permanent residents and citizens of developing countries pursuing doctoral studies at a canadian university. awards will cover the costs of field research conducted for a doctoral dissertation in one or more countries in the global south.
