showcasing and disseminating knowledge and research (sdkr) 2022-23

how to apply: 

for over 50 years, shastri indo-canadian institute (sici) has been promoting academic research, through various programmes and grants to young and established researchers, faculty members, and 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 at all levels in the india-canada bilateral corridor.  with a legacy of over 53 years now, shastri alumni are dispersed all over india and canada. each year, hundreds of awardees get associated with the institute and become an integral part of the large it’s family. sici takes pride in respective and unique contribution of each of its scholar, facilitate their work and assist in expanding their horizons as much as possible. numerous researchers, in addition to shastri alumni, are contributing to tremendous knowledge on binational corridors. sici will play an important role in highlighting the efforts of these scientists/researchers/世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 /faculty members between the two countries. 

in continuation with its mission towards building and strengthening intellectual and cultural linkages through research, dialogue and exchange, sici is introducing an opportunity to help its awardees and those who have worked on bilateral issues pertaining to india and canada, to share their research and outcomes. it will not only help in reaching out to peers but also prove beneficial in building connections.  for young researchers, such an opportunity will boost the confidence as interaction with numerous individuals/researchers will expand their horizon of knowledge and experience, build diversified perspectives and help in realising their career aspirations via learning and knowledge sharing.

shastri alumni and other persons collaborating bilaterally are potential channels to create linkages between india and canada with their first-hand experience and, thus, are a source of inspiration for others. sici welcomes its awardees and all those engaged in indo-canadian research to share their research, journeys, and outcomes. every month two persons will be invited to share their research findings.  the mode of interaction will be virtual, through an online platform such as zoom or google meet.

shastri best research paper award (sbrpa) 2022

how to apply: 

the shastri best paper awards will be presented annually to shastri fellows whose work has been published in a peer-reviewed journal with a high impact factor. ideally, the paper should have appeared in a high-impact factor journal between january 1, 2022, and december 31, 2022. the first authors should submit applications. a significant highlight of the competition is the high quality of the work produced by the sici awardees and their collaborators.  

there will be two categories for the shastri best paper awards i.e. science (stem and allied) and social science (huss and allied). each category will be considered for one award.

 eligibility criteria

  • the applicant should be a shastri fellowship/grant awardee;
  • the published paper must be based on a sici-funded project;
  • the publishing date on the journal must be between january 1, 2022, and december 31, 2022;
  • papers co-authored by 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and faculty are eligible;
  • a paper jointly co-authored by a canadian and indian researcher will be seen favorably.

shastri mapping & matching interest workshop (smmiw) 2022-23 (one health)

how to apply: 

shastri mapping and matching bi-national interest workshop proposes to conduct partnership development meetings in the areas of mutual interest to indian and canadian researchers. the proposed workshops aim to provide a learning mechanism that will help researchers from both countries to come together and provide a framework of developments and trends on mutual themes of interest, share their research findings and explore collaborations and partnerships.

the workshops aim to support research relevant to international development and new, emerging, and under-researched areas relevant to identified themes. in addition, these meetings will promote twinning partnerships for advanced research and development by providing opportunities to work across the bi-national board to enhance learning. as an outcome, the proposed workshops would also facilitate universities/institutions in india and canada to establish research partnerships to create innovations and social impact by engaging with relevant industries. finally, these workshops will be dedicated to achieving longstanding and successful bi-national partnerships through developing joint research collaborations by seeding relationships through national and international funding sources.

it is proposed that virtual bi-lateral workshops with larger groups of identified researchers will be held initially to identify and establish interests from both sides. then, the scholars identified through these virtual workshops will be invited to more focused virtual and in-person, face-to-face shastri mapping and matching workshops.

shastri short-term virtual course (sstvc) 2022-23

how to apply: 

sici is working on short-term certificate courses in collaboration with its member institutions and non-member institutions in canada / india. these online courses could range from 15 to 30 lectures spaced out over 15 days to 90 days, depending on the course type and the number of sessions per week.

necessary communication is underway with member institutions in india/or canada to devise the modalities of the course based on niche areas. sici does not have the academic expertise to prepare for such online courses, however, it is inviting faculty members from its member institutions to devise content curriculum and delivery.

sici would be responsible for the communication, promotion and administration (video conferencing, recording, etc.) of the online course to convene online sessions. furthermore, as subject specialists, faculty members from member institutions will develop the course curriculum for virtual courses and deliver the lectures.

for the purpose mentioned above, senior administrators/subject experts from member institutions in india / canada will be contacted to understand the basics of the online courses and will float virtual courses on a theme which is most relevant in the present era and can help the 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 in upscaling skills in their domain.

scope

the short-term course can be based on relevance, which plays a significant role in scaling up a career to the next level. a few best courses such as retail management, inventory control, the infrastructure of logistics, health and safety, labour relations, recruitment, interview psychology, strategy analysis, cyber security, smart green technologies and small-scale nuclear reactor generators, digital humanities, communicative french etc. are quite popular among 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 , researchers and young faculty.

the institute invites one or more sici member institutions from india and canada to come forward with a proposal that includes a collaboration of experts in their respective fields contributing innovative ideas for holding a bi-national lecture series/workshop/seminar. the bi-national lecture series/workshop/seminar grant intends to support events that propose to bring outstanding practitioners or academicians from all domains of knowledge but are encouraged in the following areas:

how to apply: 

by sponsoring research and academic events in canada and india, the shastri indo-canadian institute's broad-based initiative aims to foster the development of bi-national relationships between academics, the government, the corporate sector, and civil society organisations. in addition, sici continues to work with member institutions through programmes, grants, and other initiatives to promote connections in the corridors of higher learning between the two countries.

to advance academic endeavours such collaborations will help better understand canadian and indian scientists/researchers and the academic fraternity working on similar issues.

the institute invites participation from scientists/researchers and faculty members engaging one or more-member institution(s) of sici from india and canada, including an alliance of subject matter experts from both countries to bring forth innovative ideas and activities. proposals are invited from scientists/researchers/faculty members in all domains of knowledge but encouraged in the following areas.

  • agriculture;
  • one health including mental and public health;
  • ocean and marine life, including fisheries, oil and gas and clean energy;
