kirsty held an academic position at the former school of midwifery at laurentian university, and postdoctoral fellowships with the karolinska institutet in sweden, departmentof women and children's health-reproductive health research, as well as the mcmaster midwifery research centre, department of obstetrics and gynecology, mcmaster university. she has partnered with global ngos, such as the international confederation of midwives, ipas international, global affairs canada and the canadian association of midwives. currently, kirsty is adjunct scientist at mcmaster university and faculty at the department of health sciences at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 and the school of nursing and midwifery at mount royal university alberta. she works with dr brianne wood and in partnership between the dr gilles centre for health equity at nosm university, the thunder bay regional health sciences centre, and the thunder bay regional health research institute. she lives in thunder bay with her 13 year old son and dog ernie. |

she serves as the research director of the nosm university research toward health hub (northh)—a practice-based research network for primary health-care providers within the dr. gilles arcand centre for health equity. as associate scientist, brianne supports primary health care research, quality improvement, and capacity-building in northern ontario. with a phd in epidemiology from the university of ottawa, brianne has expertise in integrated knowledge translation and mixed methods research. brianne also has applied experience from working as a health systems epidemiologist in northern ontario, including health equity impact assessments, health system performance measurement, and primary health care capacity, specific to northern, rural, and remote contexts. |

elle a vécu et contribué au travail sur cette question des droits humains dans le nord de l'ontario, au nunavut, en haïti, en république démocratique du congo et en suède. formée en politique et en systèmes de santé, son expertise en matière d'échange de connaissances intégré et de recherche par méthodes mixtes est innovante et intègre les principes d'équité dans le processus de recherche. kirsty a occupé un poste universitaire à l'ancienne école de sages-femmes de l'université laurentienne et a obtenu des bourses postdoctorales au karolinska institutet en suède, au département de recherche sur la santé des femmes et des enfants et la santé reproductive, ainsi qu'au mcmaster midwifery research centre, département d'obstétrique et de gynécologie, de l'université mcmaster. elle a collaboré avec des ong internationales telles que la confédération internationale des sages-femmes, ipas international, affaires mondiales canada et l'association canadienne des sages-femmes. actuellement, kirsty est chercheuse adjointe à l'université mcmaster et membre du corps professoral du département des sciences de la santé de l'université lakehead et de l'École des sciences infirmières et de sage-femmerie de l'université mount royal en alberta. |

brianne est la première chercheuse associée en responsabilité sociale et en systèmes de santé apprenants dans le cadre d'un partenariat entre l'université nosm, le centre régional des sciences de la santé de thunder bay et l'institut régional de recherche en santé de thunder bay. elle est également lauréate de la bourse 2021 pour la résilience des systèmes de santé, décernée par la fondation de recherche en santé de médicaments innovateurs canada. le programme de recherche de brianne se concentre sur le développement, la mise en œuvre et l'évaluation de la recherche sur les systèmes de santé évolutifs dans le nord de l'ontario et soutient l'intégration de la recherche sur les systèmes éducatifs et de santé. elle occupe le poste de directrice de recherche du nosm university research toward health hub (northh), un réseau de recherche pratique destiné aux prestataires de soins de santé primaires au sein du centre pour l'équité en santé dr gilles arcand. en tant que scientifique associée, mme brianne soutient la recherche en soins de santé primaires, l'amélioration de la qualité et le renforcement des capacités dans le nord de l'ontario. titulaire d'un doctorat en épidémiologie de l'université d'ottawa, mme brianne possède une expertise dans le domaine de l'application intégrée des connaissances et de la recherche par méthodes mixtes. elle possède également une expérience pratique acquise en tant que épidémiologiste des systèmes de santé dans le nord de l'ontario, notamment dans le domaine des évaluations d'impact sur l'équité en santé, de la mesure du rendement des systèmes de santé et des capacités en matière de soins de santé primaires, en particulier dans les contextes nordiques, ruraux et éloignés. |

samantha est sage-femme métisse à waasegiizhig nanaandawe'iyewigamig, dans le territoire du traité n° 3, à kenora, en ontario. elle s'intéresse vivement à la pérennité de la profession de sage-femme dans le nord de l'ontario et est reconnaissante de faire partie de l'équipe exceptionnelle qui mène cet important travail. au cours de la dernière décennie, samantha a travaillé dans divers modèles de soins de sage-femme en ontario et en alberta. la recherche est devenue une nouvelle passion pour elle, encouragée par les conseils et l'expérience de kirsty. elle vit à kenora avec sa famille, où ils apprécient les activités de plein air, la musique et l'artisanat. |

annissea est cofondatrice du northwest black collective à thunder bay et membre active des communautés caribéenne et africaine depuis son plus jeune âge. elle est doula et soutient les femmes enceintes et les familles noires en leur offrant des soins adaptés à leur culture. elle travaille sans relâche pour améliorer l'accès aux soins et aux ressources pour les nouveaux arrivants et les populations défavorisées. annissea a également dirigé pendant des décennies le programme de dépistage infantile à thunder bay, mettant son expertise en matière de santé maternelle et infantile au service de la communauté. passionnée par l'équité en matière de santé, elle milite en faveur de soins adaptés à la culture et d'un soutien inclusif, afin que chaque famille se sente considérée, soutenue et respectée. |

kirsty was born in kapuskasing and raised on the traditional lands of the fort william first nation, in a city now known as thunder bay, a francophone settler, midwife, academic researcher and mother, passionate about the prioritization and access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. she has lived and contributed to the work on this human rights issue in northern ontario, nunavut, haiti, democratic republic of congo and sweden. health policy and health systems trained; her expertise in integrated knowledge exchange and mixed methods research is innovative and incorporates equity principles in the research process.
susan james is a retired midwifery professor from laurentian university. she was the director of the midwifery/sages-femmes degree for most of her 21 years at laurentian. she practiced midwifery for close to 15 years in alberta where she also completed her phd. prior to midwifery she was a perinatal nurse working in two toronto tertiary level hospitals. susan's research is primarily hermeneutic phenomenology in the areas of midwifery, ethics, provider-recipient relationships and interdisciplinary practice. she lives in sudbury ontario.
dr. helle møller is an associate professor in the department of health sciences at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜
. her teaching and research focus broadly on the determinants of health, social justice and equity in health, healthcare and health educations with particular attention to these issues in northern, rural and remote regions and for perinatal people, people on the female continuum and indigenous people. she teaches in the health sciences doctoral program and the master of public health, and master of health sciences programs and have supervised numerous graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛
at lakehead in health sciences and other departments and at universities across ontario. her research, and that of her graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛

patrick timony, phd, is a faculty member in the school of rural and northern health at laurentian university and a research associate with the centre for rural and northern health research (cranhr), in sudbury ontario. there, he leads and contributes to research on health services access, provider distribution, and linguistic equity in rural and northern ontario. his work focuses on how language concordance and the active offer of french‑language services impact patient care, satisfaction, and outcomes, particularly for francophone and other underserved populations, and he serves as northern research coordinator for the access to resources in the community (arc) program.
brianne is the inaugural joint social accountability and learning health systems associate scientist in a partnership between nosm university, the thunder bay regional health sciences centre, and the thunder bay regional health research institute. she is also the 2021 health systems resilience fellow, awarded by the health research foundation of innovative medicines canada. brianne’s research program focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of learning health systems research in northern ontario and supports the integration of educational and health systems research.
dominique is métis, bilingual birth doula based in thunder bay ontario. she is a passionate advocate for individuals navigating the journey into parenthood. creating space for positive experiences through informational guidance, emotional support and connection to local practitioners. with 12 years of experience in her field dominique’s passion to provide and work alongside non-judgmental and inclusive providers remains stronger than ever.
samantha is a registered métis midwife at waasegiizhig nanaandawe'iyewigamig in treaty #3, kenora, ontario. she has a keen interest in the sustainability of midwifery in northern ontario and is grateful to be part of the exceptional team leading this important work. over the past decade, samantha has worked across a variety of midwifery models of care in ontario and alberta. research has become a new passion for her, fostered by the guidance and experience of kirsty. she lives in kenora with her family, where they enjoy the outdoors, music, and crafting.
annissea is a co-founder of the northwest black collective in thunder bay and has been an active member of the caribbean and african communities for her lifetime. she is a doula supporting black pregnant people and families with culturally safe care and works tirelessly to improve access to care and resources for newcomers and underserved populations. annissea also ran the infant screening program in thunder bay for decades, bringing her expertise in maternal and child health to the community. passionate about health equity, she advocates for culturally safe care and inclusive support, ensuring that every family feels seen, supported, and respected.

. her research takes a qualitative approach to understanding equity in accessing and receiving healthcare services in remote and rural communities. specifically, her doctoral work focuses on how healthcare delivery systems can better meet the needs of women, families, and communities in these regions. laija is particularly interested in community-led and culturally safe approaches to care that improve access, quality, and outcomes for marginalized populations.
chloe is a recent graduate of laurentian university's interdisciplinary health master's program and a research assistant on the project. from growing up in a rural community, she became passionate about addressing health disparities faced by underserved populations. her research explores how integrated care can support pregnant and postpartum individuals facing overlapping mental health and social challenges. she aims to advance equitable, community‑driven reproductive care, bridging research and frontline practice.
