in order to help faculty members submitting grants that require use of the nserc/sshrc research portal as well as a canadian common cv (ccv) (e.g., sshrc insight, insight development, nserc discovery grants), research services is offering a special workshop on june 18 in at3004 from 10-12.  andrew hacquoil, research grants officer, and andrew friesen, sshrc research facilitator, will provide an overview of the following:

1.  accessing the research portal

2.  completing the common cv.

3.  linking your common cv to a grant application.

faculty members interested in attending the workshop are asked to please send an e-mail to andrew hacquoil

early researcher award information session

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 faculty members planning to apply for a ministry of research and innovation (mri) early researcher award in this year's competition are invited to attend an era information session on june 11 from 9:30-12:00 in at5035.  the first part of the session will involve information provided via video conference by an mri representative.  this will be followed by a discussion led by dr. peter hollings, department of geology.  dr. hollings has served on a era review committee and will therefore be able to provide insights on the review process and what makes for an effective application.

阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 nserc-eligible faculty members are invited to a special nserc discovery grant session on june 3 from 10-11:30, thunder bay location tba, oa 2005 in orillia.  as part of the session, dr. philip fralick, department of geology, will share with faculty members some of the insights that he recently gained by serving as a member of an nserc discovery grant evaluation group.  this will inlcude information on how the evaluation criteria is applied to applications and what makes for an effective application.

if your research is in social sciences and/or humanities, you might want to attend this meeting.

research services is holding an information session on the sshrc partnership development grant competition.

this grant develops research and related activities in social sciences and humanities, including knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and new scholars. it fosters new partnerships for research and related activities involving existing and/or potential partners.

between the green & the gold - open access to canadian research: opportunities & challenges

the open access movement is transforming scholarly communications. this webinar will give an overview of what open access is and the potential benefits of open access publishing. in light of the tri-councils recent policy announcement on open access to awarded research, the session will also explore what the policy means for funders, institutions and researchers; the methods and mechanisms available to enable compliance (both free and fee routes) as well as ways to address any concerns and/or barriers to open access which faculty and other key stakeholders may have. this will also be an opportunity to share ideas and perspectives on future developments in open access both in canada and beyond.

canadian institutes of health research town hall april 14, 2015

the canadian institutes of health research (cihr) is planning another round of discussions with institutions across canada on their new suite of programs and peer review processes between december 2014 and spring of 2015.

these meetings, with senior administrators from cihr, will include a town hall forum with senior administrators that will also be open to all health researchers and research administrators.  the town hall discussion will provide an update on cihr's program reforms, including information on the college of reviewers.  lakehead's session will be held april 14, 2015 from 9am to 11am in atac 3004.  orillia faculty members can participate in oa 3041.

as this session will provide important updates to cihr's program architecture, i encourage all researchers who conduct health-related research to attend this session.  please notify andrew hacquoil, research grants officer, at ahacquo1@lakheadu.ca by april 7, 2015 if you plan on attending this session.

cihr is currently conducting engagement activities with the research community to discuss their new design and next steps as they implement significant changes to the process and structure of cihr. our meeting is scheduled with cihr on april 14, 2015 (details to follow). please plan to attend and hold the date in your calendar.

participation will be by poster only as a means of promoting faculty research and innovation.

postdoctoral fellows currently engaged in research at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 are invited to participate in the annual research and innovation week poster competition for postdoctoral fellows.   a panel of reviewers will judge and adjudicate all eligible posters for first, second and third places. for each of the categories, namely, nserc, sshrc, and cihr, there should a minimum of three poster participants to qualify for the first, second and third placement within the relevant category.
