eligibility

this call is open to canadians and permanent residents of canada pursuing master’s or doctoral studies at a canadian university. the award under this call will cover costs of field research conducted for a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation in one or more countries of the global south.

who can apply

candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • you must be a citizen or permanent resident of canada;
  • you must be enrolled at a canadian university at the master’s or doctoral level (you must have completed several courses of the program, but not necessarily all courses, when you submit your application);
  • you must have an academic background that combines an interest in forest, climate resilience, biodiversity or food systems addressed through social justice or equity. applicants from interdisciplinary programs are eligible, provided their programs contain the specified elements;
  • your research proposal must be approved by your thesis supervisor and you must provide proof;
  • your proposed field of research must be conducted for a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation and must take place in one or more developing countries (see exceptions below);
  • you must provide evidence of affiliation with an institution or organization in the developing region(s) in which the research will take place;
  • doctoral 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 must have completed coursework and passed comprehensive exams before taking up the award; and
  • you may not be in receipt of two or more active idrc awards at the same time, which includes the idrc research awards. no time overlaps will be permitted. if you are in receipt of idrc funds from another source (e.g. a queen elizabeth advanced scholars award or through a professor’s idrc research grant) for activities that will still be active when and if you take up the john g. bene fellowship, you will be asked to demonstrate how funds from each are not being used towards the same objective.

the annual call is open for erc synergy grants (deadline 6 november 2024, 17:00 brussels time) .  synergy grants are for teams of two to four pis working together with different skills and resources working collaboratively to solve a research problem that demonstrably cannot be solved by one researcher alone.  synergy grants can be up to a maximum of €10 million for up to 6 years, plus an additional €4 million for start up costs and/or equipment, access to major facilities, and/or experimental/fieldwork costs.

ohtn hiv endgame program: new call for applications

how to apply: 

the ohtn will offer five types of grants:

  1. breaking new ground grant: project funding for innovative, high-reward projects that will break new ground and build evidence and programs to dramatically improve the prevention, treatment, and care cascade in ontario. this funding stream supports the piloting, evaluation, or scale up of hiv interventions
  2. implementation science grant: project funding for the development of sustainable, effective hiv programs and services. this funding stream will support implementation science initiatives that will contribute to a rapid learning system for hiv.
  3. junior investigator grant: salary support for emergent leaders who are interested in working closely and collaboratively with the ohtn to drive change, contribute to rapid learning and improvement in our sector, and build hiv innovation capacity in ontario.
  4. postdoctoral grant: salary support for postdoctoral fellows who are interested in working closely and collaboratively with the ohtn to drive change, contribute to rapid learning and improvement in our sector, and build hiv innovation capacity in ontario.
  5. community based project and participatory evaluation grant: support for community-based agencies, their staff, and people living with hiv to undertake projects, needs assessments, quality improvements, and evaluation activities that help develop and modify effective programs, services, and policies or generate data to make the case for additional hiv inquiry relevant to ontario’s needs.

the call aims to support organizations registered in canada or in jordan to develop innovative models to promote women and youth’s economic empowerment by:

  • addressing policies and norms that inhibit participation in the workforce;
  • promoting environmentally sustainable economic growth, with a focus on green jobs;
  • reducing income and power inequality and promoting inclusive growth.

under this call, your proposed project must contribute to the achievement of the following ultimate outcome: improved economic well-being for women and youth in jordan, particularly for marginalized groups such as refugees and those living with disabilities or in remote areas

your proposed project must also contribute to at least one of the following intermediate outcomes:

  • increased labour force participation in decent jobs, of vulnerable female and youth, with an emphasis on green jobs.
  • enhanced competitiveness and sustainability of women-owned and women-led enterprises, with emphasis on those contributing to jordan’s transition to a low-carbon and climate resilient economy.
