ronald g. calhoun science ambassador award

the ronald g. calhoun science ambassador award recognizes a member of the lay community who has provided outstanding leadership over several years in support of research. the award is named in honour of dr. ronald g. calhoun, the first executive director of partners in research, who has been a champion in educating the public about the importance of health research. more information about dr. calhoun can be found on the pir website. nominations can be submitted by a dean, vice-president (research) or their equivalent, from any canadian research institute, hospital or post secondary institution. members of the community can also submit nominations.

young ambassador award

the pir young ambassador award recognizes exemplary and impactful outreach education efforts and research promotion/communication leadership benefiting canadian elementary and secondary school 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 and/or the general canadian public by a canadian graduate student, post doctoral fellow, assistant professor within 5 years of their appointment or similar nominations for the award can be submitted by, or on behalf of, a dean, vice-president (research) or their equivalent, from any canadian research institute, hospital or post secondary institution. only one nomination from any given institution and/or affiliated institution will be accepted.

global affairs canada and the chinese ministry of education are offering short-term scholarships to canadians wishing to study abroad in china. scholarships are awarded for studies, research, language studies or a combination of studies and language studies at participating chinese institutions.

these grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector. the small-scale, stakeholder-driven partnerships supported through partnership engage grants are meant to respond to immediate needs and time constraints facing organizations in non-academic sectors. in addressing an organization-specific need, challenge and/or opportunity, these partnerships let non-academic organizations and postsecondary researchers access each other’s unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities on topics of mutual interest.

the canadian donation and transplantation research program (cdtrp), in partnership with the addison fund, the canadian liver foundation, cystic fibrosis canada, the kidney foundation of canada, paladin labs inc., l’université de montréal (udem), and the uhn multi-organ transplant program, would like to encourage you to apply for the 2019 cdtrp research innovation grant competition. 

 

the primary area of focus for this competition is to support new peer-reviewed pilot research projects that align with cdtrp’s one-transplant-for-life vision, which is to fulfill every donor opportunity and turn transplant into a cure. these projects must be new stand-alone studies that align with one of the 5 themes of the cdtrp that will be used to generate preliminary data to support further investigation. the 5 cdtrp themes are:

 

1.  create a culture of donation

2.  inform universal practices for donation

3.  engineer and allocate a better graft

4.  tailor an optimal immune system for each patient

5.  restore long-term health

the banting research foundation funds early career researchers with innovative projects in all areas of health and biomedical research at universities and research institutes in canada. this year we have partnered with dystonia medical research foundation canada to support early career researchers focused on areas relevant to dystonia.

eligible applicants should apply through our 2020 discovery award competition, which will provide one-year grants of up to $25,000. the application deadline is february 14, 2020.  

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:

• to support research and development with a considerable economic and societal impact that:
  • focuses on prevention, reversal or remission of type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes;
  • improves the quality of life for individuals with type 2 diabetes and their families;
  • leads to sustainable collaborations between dutch and canadian type 2 diabetes researchers and canadian type 2 diabetes researchers and for-profit private parties and other private parties.
