postdoctoral enrichment program (pdep) provides a total of $60,000 over three years to support the career development activities for underrepresented minority postdoctoral fellows in a degree-granting institution (an institution includes its affiliated graduate and medical schools, hospitals and research institutions) in the united states or canada whose training and professional development are guided by mentors committed to helping them advance to stellar careers in biomedical or medical research.

ecf is pleased to announce the release of our third annual rise (research, innovate, scale and establish) for nutrition request for applications (rfa). through our rise portfolio, ecf funds implementation research on cost-effective, scalable innovations designed to improve nutrition interventions in east africa.
accompanying this year's rfa, ecf is excited to release the first installment of our grantee guidance series: theory of sustainability and theory of scale. ecf hopes this guidance paper will serve as a resource for rise applicants and other nutrition actors in their efforts to more clearly integrate considerations of scale and sustainability into their project design and implementation efforts.

trans-atlantic platform social innovation call for proposals
trans-atlantic platform launches social innovation call for proposals
the trans-atlantic platform has launched its 2018 social innovation call for proposals, which will support international projects that can contribute to increasing our understanding of societal transformations and the role of social innovation.
the call brings together funding organizations from brazil, canada, finland, france, germany, the netherlands, poland and the united kingdom. it is open to teams with members from at least three of these countries. teams must include partners from both sides of the atlantic.
research partners will receive funding from the national funding agency from their country of origin for projects that can last up to 36 months.
collaboration through this call will enable researchers to:
· address social challenges, such as the digital divide; urban and rural developments and cohesion; access to public services and infrastructure; ethnic conflicts; human rights and legislation; the current state of democracy; and equality and social, political and human values;
· learn from the experiences of multisectoral collaboration for social innovation practiced on both sides of the atlantic (e.g., innovative forms of economic organization, new digital technologies and accessibility; global and local environmental issues and sustainable development; strategies for social cohesion; integration of health and social care services; and improvement of education and overcoming of linguistic barriers);
· apply and adapt approaches from one locale to another; and
· generalize and/or scale up local experiences.

wes ecosystem fund
as part of the strategy, the government is ensuring women across canada have access to the business supports they need to start or grow a business.
the wes ecosystem fund is investing $85 million over five years to strengthen capacity within the entrepreneurship ecosystem and close gaps in service for women entrepreneurs. projects must be led by non-profit organizations (including social enterprises and cooperatives) and be inclusive of the needs of diverse and under-represented women.
the wes ecosystem fund seeks to address gaps and build capacity in the entrepreneurship ecosystem for women. under this initiative, activities could include:
- supplier diversity activities that target women entrepreneurs;
- initiatives to support women in traditionally underrepresented sectors;
- networking, matchmaking, and mentorship opportunities;
- incubator and accelerator programs;
- initiatives to support the participation of diverse and underrepresented women in entrepreneurship;
- efforts to scale up programs that support women entrepreneurs across regions and on a national basis; and
- other activities that will support the objectives of the wes ecosystem fund.
