about the speaker

dr. david savage is a graduate of the northern ontario school of medicine and an emergency physician at thunder bay regional health sciences centre. his research is currently focused on northern and rural health and health human resource planning.

mitacs is launching its second indigenous pathways research and innovation call. this program drives innovation through partnerships between indigenous communities, organizations and interns, and post-secondary institutions.

from january to june 2022, mitacs will host a series of webinars that profile projects that emerged from the indigenous pathways research and innovation call. their goal is to celebrate the work of indigenous researchers, innovators and communities. this mitacs webinar series will also provide a platform to explore indigenous research practices and opportunities emerging from the indigenous pathways program – through topics determined by indigenous communities.

the first webinar, being held on january 27, 2022, explores the sanyakola language revitalization project. the project shares a model for the reclamation of endangered indigenous languages, drawing on kwakwaka'wakw pedagogy rooted in land-based settings.

presented by dr. brianne wood:  joint social accountability and learning health systems associate scientist in a partnership between the northern ontario school of medicine, thunder bay regional health sciences centre and the thunder bay regional health research institute.

about the speaker:
dr. brianne wood is the inaugural joint social accountability and learning health systems associate scientist in a partnership between the northern ontario school of medicine (nosm), thunder bay regional health sciences centre and the thunder bay regional health research institute. she is a health research foundation fellow in health systems resilience. her research focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of learning health systems research in northern ontario and support the integration of educational and health systems research. as associate scientist, dr. wood supports primary health care research, quality improvement, and capacity-building in northern ontario. she also serves as the director of northh (the nosm research toward health hub—a practice-based research network for primary health-care providers) within nosm’s centre for social accountability. with a phd in epidemiology from the university of ottawa, dr. wood has expertise in integrated knowledge translation and mixed methods research. dr. wood also has applied experience from working as a health systems epidemiologist in northern ontario, including health equity impact assessments, health system performance measurement, and primary health care capacity, specific to northern, rural, and remote contexts.

euraxess north america has partnered with the delegation of the european union to canada to promote the eu's new framework program for research and innovation, horizon europe. the 90-minute virtual event will provide an overview of horizon europe to stakeholders and researchers interested in getting involved in the program. learn about the open calls and opportunities for researchers in canada to become part of the €95.5 billion (cad $140.1b / usd $110.6b) in funding offered by horizon europe.

 researchers of any nationality and discipline are welcome to join. the event is targeted at phd candidates, postdoctoral and established researchers, university research support offices, international relations offices, and other research institutions, as well as private sector actors.

many federal and provincial research funding opportunities now require researchers to develop equity, diversity and inclusion (edi) plans within research proposals to address new evaluation criteria. the objective of this workshop is to provide 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 researchers in all disciplines with the knowledge, best practices and and strategies to enable them to successfully develop edi plans as part of research funding proposals such as nfrf, crc, nserc, sshrc, cihr, etc.

through the lens of a research plan, we will:
1) explore the value of edi within the research process and how that can be captured in your research proposal;

2) focus on the research team by understanding how bias impacts recruitment and hiring & best practices to mitigate that bias

3) gain strategies to work towards an inclusive team environment to work towards better team retention

this workshop is also a prerequisite course for researchers who wish to complete the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 -ccdi inclusive research leadership certificate program.

presented by: miriam chaisson; manager, learning at ccdi (canadian centre for diversity and inclusion). miriam chiasson joined ccdi as manager, learning in 2021.  her interest in diversity and inclusion stems from her ba in history and anthropology, after completing her master’s in library and information science.
