the sloan research fellowships seek to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise.

alliance missions grants are intended to provide support for research activities that will

• advance canadian knowledge, models, processes, tools and technologies to optimize efficiency, minimize environmental impacts, and/or support data-driven decisions along domestic critical mineral value chains, from exploration to recycling (e.g., geological and economic modelling of critical mineral deposits, flowsheets, life-cycle analyses, etc.); and/or
• develop efficient options to advance a domestic circular economy with less reliance on primary mineral resources through mine reclamation and/or critical mineral recycling or reprocessing (e.g., mining and industrial waste, end-of-life products, etc.); and/or
• support the development of best practices in technology, innovation and collaborative ventures (e.g., best practices to advance vertical integration across the sector, etc.).

the vancouver whistler 2025 hybrid winter invictus games offer a unique opportunity to make a further, significant contribution to the research legacy of the invictus games by examining the impact of an outdoor sport setting versus an indoor setting, coupled with a degree of controlled exposure to risk (adventure sports) on injured military and veterans and their families and caregivers. these games lend themselves to the evaluation of several emerging trends in sports recovery, physical activity, and adventure therapy by optimizing the acute and chronic benefits associated with participating in a wider range of activities for competitors. in particular, we are keen to understand the specific impacts of the first ever invictus games in a winter environment, which in turn can inform future programming decisions in canada and across other nations. this call for proposals is seeking submissions to complete the following - rapid literature review to inform the 2025 invictus games research legacy project

the natural sciences and engineering research council of canada (nserc) and the us national science foundation (nsf) are pleased to announce a flash call for letters of intent (lois) with an expedited evaluation and decision process for lois. under this flash call, lois directed to research projects in quantum technologies that aim to advance one or more of the national quantum strategy missions will be reviewed by nserc, and a decision will be provided within approximately 2 weeks of receiving the complete loi.

faculty innovation award

brain canada along with heart & stroke, the canadian institutes of health research institute of circulatory and respiratory health (cihr-icrh), and cihr institute of genetics (ig) are excited to launch the congenital heart disease (chd) team grants.  

objectives

research tools and instruments (rti) grants foster and enhance the discovery, innovation and training capability of university researchers in the natural sciences and engineering by supporting the purchase of research equipment.

description

the rti grants program provides the primary avenue for university researchers in the natural sciences and engineering to obtain up to $150,000 in support for research tools and instruments with a net cost between $7,001 and $250,000. net cost is defined as the purchase cost of the equipment after any discount from the vendor and before taxes, customs and importation fees, transportation and shipping charges, and assembly and installation costs. the vendor discount  cannot be offered in exchange for services from users benefiting the vendor company. the research community is also encouraged to explore other avenues for funding research tools and instruments, including nserc’s other programs that allow the purchase of equipment as eligible expenses.
