dr. andrew p. dean, vice-president, research and innovation

dr. adam algar, associate professor, biology - adam algar (he/him) is an associate professor in the department of biology and is a senior editor for the journal global ecology & biogeography. dr. algar's research aims to understand how organisms' physiology, behaviour and ecology scale up to generate broad scale ecological and evolutionary patterns through space and time, with particular emphasis on climate and limits to species & distributions. his work spans a range of systems, including tropical lizards, boreal amphibians, and vector-borne human disease.

about the event

as you start your research career at 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 , it’s important to know that you are not alone. in this session, you will learn strategies from experienced faculty members about how to get your program of research started.

you will learn about the expectations of promotion, tenure, and renewal and how to cultivate a peer support system and reach out to peer mentors. finally, you will develop strategies to balance the demands of teaching, research, and service.

tri-agency grants are now evaluated on the researcher’s ability to incorporate equity, diversity and inclusion (edi) within their research plan. this workshop will provide researchers with an overview of the best practices and strategies for successfully developing an edi plan for grant applications. researchers will learn a framework for thinking about edi in research and connect edi with various parts of grant proposals. the workshop will also include interactive examples and a chance for researchers to ask questions. researchers who attend this workshop will be able to:

• understand how edi is related to research
• learn how to implement edi practices within their research plans and grant applications
• gain valuable resources (both internally and externally) that will aid them in developing an edi research plan
• work directly with the research facilitators in developing a mock edi action plan for their tri-agency.

attending this workshop is a requirement for researchers who wish to complete the 阿根廷vs墨西哥竞猜 inclusive research leadership certificate program.
