the hiv endgame program supports people and projects (including innovative, discovery-based and investigator-driven-game-changing projects) that have the potential to:

the implementation science grant funds the development of sustainable, effective hiv programs and services. the goal is to promote the utilization and adoption of evidence-based hiv interventions; support the planning, execution, and implementation of hiv interventions using appropriate implementation science methodologies; and improve hiv programs and services by cultivating regular uptake of evidence-based practice. this funding stream will support implementation science initiatives that will contribute to a rapid learning system for hiv. the project should address a clear care or quality gap in the current hiv care cascade, or health and social system.
 
breaking new ground (bng)

the breaking new ground grant funds innovative, high-reward projects that will break new ground and build evidence and programs to dramatically improve the prevention, treatment, and care cascade in ontario. this funding stream supports the piloting, evaluation, or scale up of hiv interventions. the project should address a clear care or quality gap in the current hiv care cascade, or health and social system and work to achieve impact at the front lines of hiv prevention and care.

justice for women and indigenous peoples through climate-resilient forests and food systems – john g. bene fellowship 2023

idrc has helped graduate 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 undertake thesis research in the field of international development since 1982. the bene fellowship, a bequest from the estate of john g. bene, is offered annually to canadians and permanent residents of canada pursuing master’s or doctoral studies at a canadian university. candidates should have an academic background that combines an interest in forests with social sciences (e.g., forestry, agroforestry, climate justice for women and indigenous people, gender, biodiversity, or ecosystems).

we offer this fellowship to facilitate field research on the relationship between forest resources and the social, economic, cultural and environmental welfare of people in developing countries, particularly in the face of changing climate conditions. the successful candidate will propose research that benefits less privileged people in developing countries, focusing on women and indigenous people, aiming to increase the resilience of individuals and forest communities facing difficult contexts and challenges. note that work focused on genomics and/or genetic modification is not eligible.

this call is open to canadians and permanent residents of canada pursuing master’s or doctoral studies at a canadian university. the award under this call will cover costs of field research conducted for a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation in one or more countries of the global south.

global call for research proposals: innovative veterinary solutions for antimicrobial resistance (innovet-amr) 2 in food-producing animals: ruminants and aquaculture

scope

innovative veterinary solutions for antimicrobial resistance (innovet-amr) is a four-year, cad26.3 million partnership between idrc and the uk department of health and social care (dhsc). the initiative is aimed at reducing the emerging risk that antimicrobial resistance (amr) in animals poses to global health and food security.  

through innovet-amr, idrc and dhsc aim to achieve two main objectives: 

  • support research that will identify and develop prophylactic and therapeutic innovative veterinary solutions, including vaccines, to improve health, while reducing the use of antimicrobials in ruminants and aquaculture operations in low- and middle-income countries (lmics). 

  • build effective gender-balanced partnerships to better contribute to the discovery and development of innovative veterinary solutions to reduce the use of antimicrobials in ruminants and aquaculture operations in lmics. 

eligibility

this initiative will invite research proposals focused on veterinary solutions, where new product-oriented solutions would significantly reduce the therapeutic and/or non-therapeutic use of antimicrobials in low- and middle-income countries in ruminants and/or aquaculture production. these solutions should target the prevention and control of bacterial infectious diseases of importance in low- and middle-income countries and the reduction of the use of antimicrobials while considering gender equity and inclusion and demonstrating commitment to climate change mitigation.

the specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

  1. support the development of structured, openly available, diverse, inclusive and sustainable training and mentoring platforms that build canadian capacity in areas of health research, health issues, scientific opportunities and critical gaps by:

    • approaches to advance rigorous, responsible, and impactful research (e.g., edi considerations and analysis – including sex- and gender-based analysis, embedding inclusive patient and persons with lived or living experience (pwle) engagement in all stages of research, knowledge mobilization, research data management, research involving indigenous peoples, ethics, unconscious bias);
    • grant/proposal writing, budgeting, and peer review;
    • professional development skills (including transferrable skills, such as communication, analytical thinking, problem solving, project management, leadership, etc.);
    • applying knowledge mobilization strategies (e.g., priority-setting and co-production, dissemination and communication, evidence synthesis, implementation of high-quality evidence, embedded research, etc.) and advancing knowledge mobilization science (e.g., implementation science, embedded research, evaluation of km strategies) and,

tanaka fund program

how to apply: 
the tanaka fund was established in 1974 as the result of an exchange of gifts between the governments of canada and japan. canada offered $1,000,000 to japan to promote canadian studies in japanese universities, while japan provided 300 million yen for the enhancement of japanese studies in canadian universities. the funds were used to establish the “japan foundation trust fund for the promotion of japanese studies in canadian universities”.  guidelines developed by the japan foundation stipulated that the trust fund would be administered as an endowment and that the income thereof should be made available for the support and promotion of japanese studies at universities and colleges in canada. universities canada has administered the fund since 1975.  until 2016, support for japanese language lectureship at canadian universities was funded. in 2018, the tanaka fund was restructured to focus support towards young emerging scholars in order to foster the next generation of japanese studies scholarship in canada.   
 
we are pleased to announce a call for applications for the 2024 tanaka fund grant to support promising junior japanese studies scholars. this competition will be dependent on  any travel restrictions imposed by the government of canada or the government of japan.

1. open to canadian citizens or permanent residents only.
2. doctoral or master’s level 世界杯2022赛程表淘汰赛 who: a. are enrolled in a canadian university; b. are conducting research related to japan (comparative research included) with methods in the humanities and social sciences;
